I’ve spent the past few days happily designing the invitation for my baby girl’s first birthday. She was born in October, which allows me to merge my favorite teacup human with my favorite holiday. Win!

The illustrations are by moi with lots of inspiration from Pinterest and Etsy (thank you, makers). I spent some time exploring the various swatch libraries, as you may be able to tell.

The main font is Bell MT with accents of Gill Sans Ultra Bold and some of freebies: Citizen Slab by Joel Felix, Benthem by Keith Hayden, and Museo Slab by exljbris (some weights and styles free via MyFonts). I found some of these through this post, so you may be interested to check out the others listed there.

I’m eager to see how the invite turns out. I decided to order from Zazzle this time and was able to use their holiday card special to get half off (code: HCARDSAVINGS). Last year I ordered the birth announcements from Vista and I was underwhelmed by the quality. I would definitely love recommendations on printers for future use if you have any.

Now I’m off to while away the hours on Pinterest and Etsy hunting for party ideas! Woohoo!
